Sealant spill on Prospect snarls traffic

Champaign police Officer Jeff Jolley directs traffic off of the westbound Interstate 74 exit ramp at Prospect Avenue on Wednesday afternoon in Champaign and out of the way of a spill of driveway asphalt sealer.
CHAMPAIGN – A small chemical spill stalled traffic at the Interstate 74 interchange with Prospect Avenue for about three hours Wednesday afternoon.
About 4 p.m. Wednesday, a tank of asphalt sealant fell from a truck in the northbound lanes on the Prospect overpass over I-74. The nonhazardous chemical spill blocked the northbound side of the road.
