DANVILLE – This school year, Danville High School officials have noticed a marked improvement in freshman attendance and their interest in school. They attribute that to Freshman Focus, a pilot program started in August to help ease 100 ninth-graders' transition to a larger school, and to motivate them and provide the support they need to stay in school, do well and graduate.
Now officials want to expand on that idea and create "small learning communities" for all high school students.
