RANTOUL – Concerned that a new tax increment financing district might cripple the schools for years to come, the Rantoul City Schools Board voted 6-0 Thursday to oppose a proposal by the village to create a new downtown district.
The board also unanimously directed board President Kevin Modglin to vote "no" when a joint review board of affected governments makes a recommendation next week on creating the district.
