Hoopeston couple admit chaining up niece in bedroom
DANVILLE – A Hoopeston man and his wife have pleaded guilty in connection with a 2007 incident in which their adult mentally disabled niece was found chained to a bed.
On Monday, Ronald H. Schwartz, 67, and Barbara A. Schwartz, 65, each pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful restraint, a Class 4 felony. It is punishable by probation or up to three years in prison.
