Man faces life sentence after third armed robbery conviction
URBANA – A Champaign man faces a mandatory life sentence after being convicted of his third armed robbery Thursday by a Champaign County jury.
Judge Michael Jones set sentencing for Michael C. Smith, 39, who listed an address in the 2600 block of Heritage Drive, for Sept. 2. The jury took about two hours to find him guilty of the Nov. 21, 2007, armed robbery of a clerk at the Colonial Pantry, 312 E. Green St., C.
