Trio of improvisers will perform Thursday at Krannert
CHAMPAIGN – Yuganaut, a multi-instrumental trio of improvisers from Ann Arbor, Mich., and New York, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Krannert Art Museum, 500 E. Peabody Drive, C.
The members of Yuganaut are Stephen Rush on Moog, Rhodes, effects, toys and euphonium; Tom Abbs, bass, tuba, cello, violin and percussion; and Geoff Mann, drums, vibes, cornet and mandolin.
The concert is part of the free Sudden Sound series curated by Jason Finkelman, who describes Yuganaut as a stylistically dynamic trio of musicians who use compositional structures in free-flowing music reflective of funk, swing, out jazz and the aesthetics of the classical avant-garde.
"With the combination of original video projected in their live performances, Yuganaut is a feast for the eyes and ears," Finkelman said.
