Rantoul police seek information on Oct. 21 burglary
RANTOUL – Crimestoppers and the Champaign County sheriff's office need help solving a burglary in rural Rantoul earlier this month.
According to a police report, somebody broke into a home in the 3000 block of County Road 2100E between 7 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Oct. 21 and took flat screen televisions, a video game system, a digital camera and a video camera.
Champaign County sheriff's investigators believe someone may have seen suspicious activity in the area, and also believe those responsible for the burglary may have approached other homes to see if anybody was home.
One way they might do this, according to police, is by knocking on the door. If the homeowner answers, they would make up a story about why they are there.
If you have information, call Crimestoppers at 373-8477. Information may also be sent by anonymous Web tip at www.373tips.com or via text message by sending Tip397 plus the message to CRIMES (274637).
Callers do not have to give their names or appear in court.
Cash rewards also are paid for information on other felony crimes or fugitives in the Champaign County area.
