Back when all things Anna Nicole Smith were dominating the airwaves (our local news stations included) I thought my husband would have a coronary and die right next to me on the couch. In what universe could this qualify as local news? I guess mine and when it comes down to it I’m the one to blame.
In my younger years I failed to see the problem with gossiping. I mean big deal right? Okay so you might be misrepresenting someone and sowing some discord, but it is just so much fun. As with most childish things I managed to stop gossiping (though it does creep up on me sometimes) but it seems that we as a society are having some trouble with that. So much so that we have become confused and can no longer separate gossip from news and it is costing us more than we realize.
No one needs to take polls to decide if a private citizen (by that I mean anyone that isn’t a government official making decisions on your behalf) is making the right choices. It is frightening to think that in these troubled times we are allowing ourselves to be so easily distracted. Our country is in terrible trouble, not from an elite group of evil masters of finance, but from our own disinterest.
We can do better.

To have this type of implantation costs upwards of $15,000 dollars. The cost of six premature children birth $60,000. The cost of cost of first month in intensive care ... The long term cost of health problem associated with this type of unnatural conception.... The cost of the unimplanted lives still sitting frozen...The cost of child care.... This woman on public aid was given a charge card by the governement or an insurance company to run up a bill that obviously upwards of ten million dollars. Shut off the the TV? Only if you are unable to tell the difference between gossip and a cause of a national health crisis.
